Anyone Under 18 Must Pay $0.50 To Register With Nintendo Network

Nintendo has opted for a different, less convenient way to ensure child gamers' parents are aware of their account. If an account is set up with an age lower than 18, $0.50 must be paid to ensure a guardian provided consent, however, if a child were to enter a fake age in order to gain access to the Nintendo Network there would be no charge required. Update: It has been re-confirmed that the $0.50 charge only applies to users under the age of 13, not 18. What do you think of these charges? Do you think they are necessary?
