7 - Mario Tennis Open - Not very many people are really excited about this game. I guess that is expected however, as it is a sports game. I’ve never really liked sports games myself either, but I have always been a big fan of the Mario Tennis series, ever since playing it on my Nintendo 64. I’m really looking forward to the touch screen controls, and how they will play a part in this. Also, I remember really liking the tournament mode, so I hope they revamp that and add it to Mario Tennis Open. I put this as the last on the list because I am quite excited for it, and will probably pre-order it, but not as much as the others below.
6 - Super Smash Bros. 3DS (And WiiU) - A lot of people will probably be surprised I am putting this game so low on the list. Don’t get my wrong, I love Super Smash Bros., but this game is so far off and we know so little about it, that I really just don’t feel all that excited for it. I’m sure that will change when we get closer to release. Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing some great new characters in this one, hopefully some from Kid Icarus: Uprising, a few from Animal Crossing, and maybe Paper Mario. I'd also enjoy the game more, if they made unlocking characters and stages a bit more difficult, as I've found it quite easy in the past. The newest Super Smash Bros. also needs an excellent online mode. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, online gameplay is full of lag, and there isn't really any way to communicate with the person your playing with. I really hope they do better than that in the 3DS entry.
5 - Animal Crossing 3DS - I've been a fan of Animal Crossing, since I got it shortly after it first came out on Gamecube. I’ve always loved the feeling of not having any real objective, and to be able to play at your own pace. Also, I love how interactive the townspeople are, and how they all have their own personality. I’m really looking forward to having the ability to swim in this installment, and I really think it could add a lot to the game. Also, I’d personally like to see a much large selection of stores, and the ability to choose a career, and to hold a steady job.
4 - Zelda 3DS - You might be quite surprised to see the next Legend of Zelda installment for 3DS so low on this list, and don’t get me wrong, Zelda is my all time favorite series, but I do have my reasons. Much like Super Smash Bros, we know nothing about this game. We don’t know the graphic style, the gameplay, or any of its mechanics. I’d actually like to see another sequel to OoT/MM, with a similar graphic style, but revamped, being similar to OoT3D. Also, I'd like to see the story a bit longer. Don't get me wrong, I love sidequests, and the story within the Legend of Zelda games is usually stellar, but I fell like they could make the story, or rather the portion of the game that isn't optional, a bit longer. But like I said, I can’t get really all that excited for this game, as it will be released late 2013 at the earliest.
3 - Luigi’s Mansion 2 - Here is where I start to really get excited. While I haven’t ever played through the original Luigi’s Mansion, nor do I own it, I’ve heard such great things about the game, and I just know that the sequel will be just as great. I guess I don’t have much to expect, not having played the prequel, but I am hoping for a large amount of content, with a lot of side quests. I’m hoping we will see this one early summer.
2 - Kid Icarus: Uprising - This one is but days away, and I am super pumped. While I’ve never played the previous installments in this franchise, I’ve been looking forward to this since it was first announced, back at E3 2010. I truly believe this will be the best game on the 3DS, when it comes out. The amount of content supposedly packed into it, the transfer between air and land battles, the raising of difficulty resulting in raising of rewards, are all things that make me totally eccentric about this game. Expect a full review of this, within the next week.
1 - Paper Mario 3DS - Paper Mario (N64) was my favorite video game for a very long time, and still is quite close to the top of the list. The sequels are good, but not nearly as good as the feeling I have when I power up my Nintendo 64, and play some Paper Mario. The RPG and exploration elements combined create the perfect Mario experience, in my humble opinion, and one I can’t wait to see on the 3DS. What I’d really like to see from PM3D, is a return to its roots, with more RPG elements. Super Paper Mario kind of strayed from this, and felt more like a 2D platformer, then anything. I would also like to see a large selection of new companions, and a revamped badge system. The minute it becomes available, I’m pre-ordering this at my local Gamestop.
