Home > Warner Brothers Purchases Donkey Kong Rights

Nintendo did the unexpected last night, by signing over the rights to Donkey Kong to Warner Bros. WB has been asking Nintendo for the rights for a while, so that they could make a King Kong style Donkey Kong Movie. Unfortunately, Nintendo has finally excepted the offer of $860,000,000 U.S. Dollars (70,546,230,000 Yen). This means that we will never again see a Donkey Kong video game. We will however start seeing some DK movies.
Warner Brothers also announced last night that we may see the first movie very early in 2013, and that a team will start working on it immediately. I am absolutely outraged at Nintendo's decision to sell the rights. How could they do this to one of their oldest and premier series? How long will it be before they start selling other franchises? Will we soon never see another Metroid game? Will Star Fox turn into a TV show? Besides from Donkey Kong games, Nintendo no longer has the right to put DK into another Mario Kart, or Super Smash Bros. game. I hope this is some kind of sick joke, otherwise I'm really angry at Nintendo.
