Animal Crossing New Horizons House Upgrades

ACNH Home With Fence and Flowers

Once you arrive on your deserted island in Animal Crossing New Horizons, Tom Nook will start you off with a small tent. A few million bells later, you can find yourself in a large home with multiple stories and additional rooms. Below we'll detail the process for making that happen.

Before you can upgrade your house, you must first pay off the loan you took out for the previous upgrade. The first loan can be paid in Nook Miles, but the rest will be due in bells. There is no interest or deadline to pay these loans off. You can do so at your own pace. To pay off the loan, you'll need to use the ABD machine found in the Resident Services tent or Town Hall.

As of the Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 Update, the new Bell Boom Ordinance can help to pay off debts quickly and easily.

ACNH Basement Home Loan

After paying off a loan, speak to Tom Nook about upgrading your house. The next day, you'll have an upgraded home and a new loan to pay off. Because construction takes one day to happen, you can upgrade your house at most once a day.

Tent
