Nintendo Power Magazine Coming to Its End

Home > Nintendo Power Magazine Coming to Its End
Nintendo Power, the iconic nintendo magazine, is to cease publication after 24 years of serving Nintendo fans. Nintendo Power, to many people, was a big part of their childhood that now, just like many other pieces of that generation's childhood, is gone. For more information on Nintendo Power and its ceased publication, click the button below. Nintendo Power has been published since 1988. Nintendo published the magazine from its first issue in 1988 through late 2007, when Nintendo Power started to want a more independent angle and went to the publication company Future Publishing. An unnamed source says that Nintendo, which was always "difficult to work with," was uninterested in renewing that contract or in taking part in a number of digital initiatives that Future saw as necessary for the long-term health of the brand. He added that Nintendo doesn't seem interested in taking over direct control of the magazine again. Nintendo Power's staff were informed of the magazine's ceased publication last week. It is still unclear which issue will be Nintendo Power's last. Nintendo Power's closing comes during a period of hard times for the magazine industry in the US, which saw overall circulation numbers decline 10% in the first half of 2012. Gamers have switched over to the online resources for Nintendo news as it's almost impossible for a magazine to keep up with the fast moving countless sources on the internet. Two tweets, apparently from Nintendo Power writers, have been deleted. This gives us at Nintendo Castle a fishy feeling about this information. On the other hand, you are no longer able to subscribe to Nintendo Power on their website. Are you upset by this news? Will you miss this magazine?
