Getting Epona's Song To begin your quest for Epona, head to Lon Lon Ranch as a child, I recommend doing it right after you meet Zelda and talk to Impa. Talk to Malon in the center of the corral, who is singing. Speak with her until she speaks about the song her mother composed. After she finishes, pull out your Ocarina. Malon then teaches you Epona’s Song. Getting Epona Now, return to Lon Lon Ranch as an adult, before the Forest Temple. Talon has been kicked out, and Ingo now rules the ranch. Malon is in the stables, afraid to leave. Now, talk to Ingo to partake in a small pony ride for 10 Rupees. Use Epona’s Song to call Epona. Get on her. Jump over the fences to get your money back. When you think you’re ready, stay on Epona and head over to Ingo, talk to him. He challenges you to a race, and a wager of 50 Rupees. The first race is fairly easy. Press A to use your carrots and make Epona speed up, don’t use all of them until the very end. If you win, Ingo goes a little insane. He challenges you again; this time betting on Epona. Ingo cheats on the second race, starting a second early, and he’s more difficult than the first race. When you see an opening, cut him off. After beating Ingo, you’re now the true owner of Epona, allowing you to ride on a horse through the land. However, Ingo closes the gate, so you’re trapped! Oh no! Not really. To exit the ranch, jump over a fence of the ranch, or the gate that Ingo’s blocking. If you return to the ranch, Ingo returns to being nice, and Malon is grateful. All is right again, but where’s Talon? Complete the Biggoron’s Sword Trading Quest to find out. That’s it for now!
