Entering the Snake Labyrinth

There is a heart container we can retrieve now that we have the raft; however, the heart container is pretty far out of our way. I recommend going straight to the 4th dungeon, known as the Snake Labyrinth, and getting the heart container later. If you’re still at the entrance of the Manji Labyrinth, than travel left and up 1 screen, right 2 screens and up 1 screen. There is a green dock in the water, if you walk to the edge of it you will sail to an island in the lake on the raft. Here you will find the entrance to the Snake Labyrinth. Upon entering the Snake Labyrinth you will find the standard entrance room. To obtain the first key go to the room on the left, kill all the Keese and grab the key. Return to the starting room and go up 1 screen. This room has the first appearance of Vires, creatures that split into 2 Red Keese when hit by the Wooden or White Sword. Kill them if you want and use a key on the door on the left. Here you will find even more Vires and the Compass.

The Ladder

After you grab the Compass go back right 1 screen and up 1 screen. Kill the Keese and grab the key then go left 1 more screen. Kill the Vires in this room, go up 1 screen and kill the Zols. After grabbing the key, go up 1 screen. Here you will find some more Vires and a stream of water spanning the screen near the top door. To cross the water here you will need the Ladder, which you can obtain by using a key on the door to the right. Kill the Vires in this room but do not use a key on the upper door of this room; the only thing you will find is three Gel, and a Dungeon Map that you can only retrieve if you use a different entrance. Anyways, go right 1 screen after the Vires are dead and you will find some Keese and a new enemy called Like-Likes.If you walk into a Like-Like it will begin draining your health, and if you aren’t fast enough they will eat your Magical Shield. Kill the enemies, except for the Bubbles, and push the block on the left to reveal a staircase. Walk down the staircase and you will come upon the Ladder in another side scrolling cavern. Now that you have the Ladder, go back 2 screens and cross the water to go through the locked door. Kill the Vires or avoid them, then go to the room on the right. Now you will see why it would have been a bad idea to use the locked door earlier. Grab the Dungeon Map and bomb the upper wall. This hidden room contains 10 rupees; after you take the rupees you have 3 options. 1. Bomb the wall on the left, which is what I do, kill the Manhandla and grab the bombs he drops. Go up a screen and the Old Man will give you some more advice. Go right 1 screen, kill the Keese, grab the key and go down 1 screen while avoiding the Traps. 2. The second option is to bomb the upper wall and do follow the exact same steps, allowing you to skip the room with the Manhandla and the Old Man’s room. 3. The last option is to bomb the wall on the right allowing you to skip 4 more rooms than the first option, and 2 more than the second option, although you will miss a key.

Gleeok

It doesn’t matter which path you choose, you will still end up at the entrance to the boss room. This room has 5 Vires, so kill them and push the block on the left. Now you will face the 2-headed dragon Gleeok. Later you will fight a version with 3 heads, and then a version with 4 heads, but more on that later. To kill Gleeok, you have to slash each head while avoiding its fireballs until it dies. When you cut off one head, it will fly around shooting fire at you until the rest of the heads die, making the later versions fairly difficult. Once Gleeok is dead grab the Heart Container, go up 1 screen and retrieve the 4th piece of the Triforce of Wisdom.
