The Sealed Grounds Once you're descending to the surface,“B Sailcloth†will appear on screen. Press B to deploy the sailcloth, but if you don’t Fi will do it for you and explain how to use it. The path for now is linear, just walk along it. Here you’ll encounter some more new enemies, Deku Babas. When their mouths are open, hit them in the direction their mouth opens- if it opens horizontally, hit it horizontally. At this point in the game, you can press Down D-Pad while targeting an enemy, and Fi will give you a detailed analysis on the enemy, including how to defeat it, your records with the enemy, and often an odd fact. Jump off the edge when the path ends, and a cutscene will begin. When it’s over, go ahead and jump down to the center of the spiraled indentation - the door behind you is locked tightly. The fastest way to the bottom is jumping off, but make sure you use your sailcloth on higher jumps so you don’t take damage. Once you’re at the bottom, walk to the center area. A voice will speak to you, and instruct you to hit the strange centerpiece with a Skyward Strike. Do so, and many air geysers will open, and the door at the top will unlock. Fi will then explain Dowsing to you. Simply point the Wiimote at the screen and look around until you find a signal. Once you’re done with this, walk into the geysers and they will elevate you to the nearest ground. Take these all the way up, and go inside the door. Once inside, you’ll see a strange person sitting in a ray of sunlight. Walk near her, and she will tell you about Zelda, beacons, and unlock the door to the forest. Make sure you open the chest she offers to you, inside there’s your second bottle, kindly filled with Revitalizing potion. This potion will repair your shield and also restore 4 hearts. Once everything’s done inside, go through the second door. The camera will pan up, and you can see your beacon. Walk along, and you’ll see a Goron being hassled by many new enemies, Bokoblins. Bokoblins aren’t very tough, just hit them a few times and they die. The trick is to wait to see what direction they’re defending themselves with their swords, and hit them there. When you’re surrounded by bokoblins like this, a spin attack will likely do great damage. After you’ve killed them all, the Goron will thank you and introduce himself as Gorko. He will tell you about Bird Statues, and during the cutscene Link will activate them. These statues are much like the ones in Skyloft, the only difference being that they can send you back up to the sky, as well as save. Faron Woods Continue to your left, you’ll find a wall you can’t run up, and a log. Just walk up to the log, press A, and walk forward to push it. Then you can run up the log up to the wall. You’ll come across your beacon. The location isn’t important, but you can see more what it looks like. Keep walking, and you’ll enter Faron Woods proper. Fi will speak to you, and you’ll see more of the area and it will be put on your map. Right in front of you is a bird statue, it’s recommended you save at these every time you come across a new one. To the right of the statue, you’ll see a little pit and a rope. Dash directly at the rope, and Link will jump onto it and start swinging. To make him swing harder, jerk the wiimote forward. To change the direction you swing, just turn the analog stick left or right. But for now you only have to swing right across. As you continue, you’ll see little green spiky things, if you walk into these they’ll cling to you and eventually explode. They only do ¼ damage, but they can be a nuisance. To get rid of them, spin attack or roll. Cut down the trees ahead of you to proceed. You’ll come across a strange creature with grass on its back that gives off Zelda’s dowsing signal, being hassled by bokoblins. Kill them, and the creature will cautiously stand up. The creature will mistake you for a monster as well, and run away. Fi will identify the creature as a Kikwi, and suggest you follow it by dowsing. Go forward, and jump off. The Kikwi will run away again. Dowse for it, it will be hiding behind a mushroom. If you walk around the mushroom to try to get to it, it will always evade you. Hit the mushroom with your sword, and it will be frightened and run to another mushroom. Repeat this, and it should run behind a tree. The Kikwis This time, when you approach it, the Kikwi will not run, but lay down and disguise itself as grass again. After a moment, it will realize you don’t mean to hurt it, and it will speak to you and introduce itself as Machi. He will say that he has seen Zelda, and that she escaped with the Kikwi Elder. Fi will appear, and mark where Machi is on your map and disable his dowsing signal She will advise you to continue dowsing for Zelda, and before you go, Machi will ask you to speak to the elder and tell him that he is safe. Occasionally, you will see logs on the edges of cliffs. Push these off, and you’ll create a shortcut. If you continue, you’ll get to a ramp with a Deku Baba on it. Just try to dash up the ramp and avoid the monster. You can throw the big rocks at the top to kill it. Follow the path, and you’ll meet some enemies, including Octoroks. For these enemies, keep your distance and they’ll appear. To hurt them, shield bash their rocks, or hit the rocks with your sword. Careful not to let the rocks just hit your shield, or they will wear the shield down and fall to the ground. Follow the path, cut the trees, continue. The path will end near an Octorok. There, go down the grassy ramp downward. Hit the plant there, and you’ll free the rope and you can swing across. On this area, you’ll find a gigantic Kikwi, speak to it. He will introduce himself as Bucha, and ask you to search for the other 3 Kikwis. Fi will register them as dowsing targets and you can begin. Finding the Kikwis To get to the first Kikwi, look to your right and you should see a large tree with a small hole you can crawl through. Once inside there, climb up the wall with vines on it. You’ll find a rope to walk across. To balance on the rope, move the wiimote left and right, depending on which way Link begins to lean. The easiest way to avoid falling is by tilting the wiimote left and right with Link’s every step. On the rope, however, are more green spikeys. If they latch onto you, let yourself lean far in one direction, and Link will jostle on the rope and it will fall off. Jostling controls are no different from the ledges you climbed on before. You can also intentionally jostle on the other side of the rope to avoid them completely. Once you’ve made it to the other side, jump off the edge and you’ll be in a little clearing with some bokoblins. Once you’re spotted, one will blow a horn and call out many others. Kill them all, and a Kikwi on a tree will call out to you and ask for help getting down from the tree. Dash towards the tree, roll into it, and the Kikwi – as well as a vine- will fall. It will introduce itself as Lopsa, and Fi will disable its signal. Grab onto the vine, and swing to get to the ledge. Push the log off, and jump off into a new large area, the main overworld of Faron. Go right from here, towards the mushrooms past the stone structure. You’ll find some irritating birds, but for now it’s almost impossible to kill them, so try to avoid them. If you keep going this direction, you’ll find a strange stone structure that lets you get on a wall with vines. Climb up this, and you’ll find a little area with a Kikwi hiding in the grass. Cut down the grass until it has nowhere to go, and it will let you speak to it. The Kikwi will introduce herself as Erla, and Fi will mark her location and disable her signal. Jump off the edge, and you should see a tree surrounded by a little brown path. To the right you should see a little hole to crawl through. Go through it, and continue along the path a little, and you should see a wall with a ledge you can climb up on. Go up to the second ledge and in the larger patch of grass you’ll find a hole. Fall into it, and follow the way. You’ll see a bush and a Kikwi. Pick up the Kikwi, and he’ll introduce himself as Oolo. Fi will mark him on your map, and you will have found the last of the Kikwis. From there, hop off of the ledge. Go left, you’ll be on the same path as when you first entered the forest. Continue as before until you get to the Kikwi Elder again. Talk to him, and he’ll thank you for finding the Kikwis and tell you where Zelda went. He will tell you he’s giving you an item and lay down. Run up his side, and retrieve the Slingshot that appears. Bucha will teach you how to use it. Hit the vine nearby, and run at it to swing across. Deep Woods The path is fairly linear to begin with. Follow it to the right (stay far away from the tree unless you want to bother the hornets) until you get to the rope. Hit the hive with your slingshot (the hornets will chase you, but if you get far away quickly they won’t be able to keep up), or else the hornets will attack you and knock you off the rope. Continue across the rope and along the path. If you turn left you’ll find a small way that leads to a log, creating a shortcut near the tree with the hornets from earlier. Once you’re back on the path forward, turn right where it ends near the octorok to make a sort of U-turn. Dash up the wall and carry yourself along the edge to the next ground. To your left, you’ll see another tightrope with a bokoblin at the end. Shoot the green spikies with your slingshot so they don’t throw you off while crossing it. For the bokoblin, hit him with a seed as well. He will be stunned for a moment, then try to cross the rope. Hit him again, and he will fall off. Now you can cross easily. Follow the way up and to your right, and you’ll see another rope, this time to swing across. Get a good running start and jump at it, and swing across. Continue, and you’ll meet up with Gorko the Goron again. Yes, you do have to talk to him. He will tell you about Goddess Cubes. Push the nearby log off the edge again to make another shortcut. Then, go off the edge leading towards the Temple. Here you’ll find another Goddess Cube and a bird statue. When approaching the temple, Fi will advise you to return to the sky to make any last minute temple preparations. Once you’re ready, walk up to the door, pull out your slingshot, and look up. You’ll see a pink crystal on the ceiling, shoot it, and the doors will open.
