Welcome back to Nintendo Castle's 100% walkthrough of Ocarina of Time. In this chapter we will be covering the journey to Princess Zelda, as well as some collection afterwards. As you exit the Great Deku Tree, you will enter a conversation in which the Great Deku Tree explains quite a bit of Zelda lore to link, and insisting that the man that cast the curse on him must be stopped. Once he is done, the Great Deku Tree perishes, and Link is left with the task of meeting the "Princess of Destiny" and saving Hyrule from the man from the desert. Once you're done with that, make your way through Kokiri forest and into the log-like exit to the forest, which stands opposite to the entrance to the Great Deku Tree's grove. You will then witness a touching cutscene in which Saria gives you the fairy ocarina. After that's over, you will leave the forest and enter Hyrule field. Continue onward and you will meet your new favorite character, Kaepora Gaebora. He will explain to you what you need to do next, which we already knew. Once he's done, make your way to the northern area of your map and Hyrule Castle Town. If you're fast enough, you'll make it in time to enter the town before the bridge goes up. If not, you'll have to fight your way through the night until the bridge goes back down. When you enter the town, immediately turn to the right and go through the door there to enter the guardhouse. Roll into the crates in the back to reveal a gold skulltula! Leave the guardhouse and enter the town proper. Make your way to the opposite end of the town and you'll be in the castle courtyard. Go forward and make note of the vines to your right. You'll soon encounter Kaepora Gaebora. After his rant ends, roll into the tree directly ahead of you to reveal a gold skulltula. If you've been following along with this walkthrough, you should have 5 skulltulas. Climb the vines you saw earlier and go forward, running into the nearest guards you see. You'll be thrown out of the courtyard. Make your way back to the vines, and you'll see a red-haired girl singing by them. Talk to her and receive the "Weird Egg". Keep it for later. Make your way along the previous path, but instead of running into the guards jump off of the gates and make your way to the left. If done right, you can weave your way in between the two pairs of guards and make your way into the courtyard proper. Climb the bricks in the northwest corner of the courtyard and jump into the moat surrounding the castle. It will carry you to the other end of the castle, where you can jump out. If it hasn't already been a full day since you got the egg from Malon, wait until it has been so that it can hatch. Go to your left and use the chicken item that you got on Talon, the sleeping man. Push the blocks from the land into the water, jump on top, and make your way into the grate on the other side of the moat. This is the actual courtyard, and it's littered with guards, so be careful. For the first and second phases of the courtyard, simply wait until they turn around and aren't looking directly at you to make your way past them. For the third, you can use a wooden pillar above the guard to completely skip him. Just be careful not to fall off. All the other guards are very easily avoided, just wait for your opportunity to run past them. If you have successfully done this, you will enter a garden where Princess Zelda waits at the far end. Run up to her to initiate a fairly long cutscene in which Zelda explains your next goal, to collect the three spiritual stones and open up the door of time. Begin to leave and you will be approached by Impa, who teaches you your first song. Use this whenever you see triforces on the ground, or whenever the royal family is mentioned. Impa will then direct you to Kakariko Village, which is our next target. The remainder of this chapter is solely optional collection. Skip to the next chapter to see the next part of the main quest. Time to pick up your second ocarina song. Make your way to Kakariko Village and to the exit in the bottom right of the map. This is the graveyard. In the far end of the graveyard, there is a tombstone and a triforce on the ground. As mentioned earlier, you want to play Zelda's Lullaby whenever you see a triforce. Do so, and a hole will open up in the ground. Fall in, and kill all the enemies in the room you see ahead of you. This will open up the door. Weave your way through the next room, avoiding the redeads on the way and in the next room you will see an inscription on the far end. Read it, and receive your next song. You can use this song to turn night into day. Leave the way you came. In the graveyard, pull out the fourth grave from the left immediately in front of you, and fall into the hole you see. Open up the chest in the room ahead to get a heart piece. Nice! Next, pull out the grave on the second level, second from the left, and drop in. Open up the chest to get a hylian shield! Leave the way you came and exit the graveyard. Wait until night for the second phase of collection in Kakariko village, the skulltula phase. There are a total of five golden skulltulas in Kakariko VIllage. 1. On the side of the skulltula house. 2. On the side of one of the unfinished walls in the construction area. 3. On the side of the building closest to Death Mountain. 4. On the ladder on the lookout tower. 5. In the tree in the center of the village. Roll into it to reveal it. The rest of the available collection will be covered in chapter 4, right before the switch to adulthood. See you in chapter 3!
