Nintendo surprised everybody by announcing a Star Fox Direct that was minutes away in the Nintendo Today! app. The bulk of that presentation showcased a new game in the series simply called Star Fox coming to Switch 2. It's another remake of the beloved Star Fox 64, this time with additional content and a brand new graphical style.

The game will feature the same core campaign and level design as Star Fox 64, but brand new full motion cutscenes with voice acting will be woven in. There is also a new Challenge Mode with difficulty settings that let you take on any level with additional challenging objectives.

There will also be a new 4-vs-4 battle mode where you can engage in dogfights with your friends online or locally. GameShare is also supported, meaning you can use one copy of the game to play with up to four people, including on the original Nintedo Switch. GameChat features were also highlighted, especially the ability to use face capture with new Star Fox avatars during GameChat.

Star Fox will be releasing exclusively on Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. It will use the new pricing model and have an MSRP of $59.99 (physical) and $49.99 (digital). Check out the full overview trailer below for all the details.
