A brand new Metroid game was revealed during today's Nintendo Direct presentation. Metroid Ravenous is a 2D Metroid game that will seemingly serve as a follow up to 2021's Metroid Dread. There seems to be a heavy focus on melee combat and consuming the life force of your enemies. The trailer ends with the tag line "it's eat or be eaten".
We were also blessed with a release date not too far in the future: January 28, 2027. It will launch exclusively for Switch 2 with an MSRP of $59.99 (digital) or $69.99 (physical). A Special Edition will also be available for $119.99 that includes the game, a SteelBook, and a Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo.
